Southwest Airlines’ system failures continued for a third day on Wednesday as hundreds of flights were delayed or cancelled.

The carrier had been was forced to ground flights across the country Tuesday for the second time in less than 24 hours, amidst reports of nationwide computer issues. The problems for the Dallas-based airline began Monday night when a problem with a weather data application prevented it from safely flying its planes.

On Wednesday, the airline was forced to cancel 11% of its flights, or over 400 flights, and an additional 46%, or 1,627, were delayed, according to FlightAware, a service that tracks such data.

On Thursday as of 9:30 a.m. CDT, the picture was greatly improved.  Only 1% of flights, or 59, had been cancelled, and 10%, or 366, were delayed.

The airline, which is in the process of celebrating its 50th anniversary – the actual anniversary is tomorrow, June 18 – has been offering customers a 50% discount on many flights to celebrate.
