United Airlines Celebrates 40th Anniversary of MileagePlus by Awarding One Million Miles Each to 4 Essential Healthcare Workers

As part of its celebration of the 40th anniversary of its MileagePlus frequent-flyer program in May, United Airlines announced it will donate four million miles to essential healthcare workers in a contest.

Four such individuals will win one million miles each.

The Chicago-based airline is inviting its customers to nominate frontline healthcare workers who embody what the airline termed its core values including making the world a safer place, caring for people, being reliable, and having determination.

Nominations may be made through May 17, 2021 and the winners will be announced in June.

The airline is taking the occasion of the 40th anniversary, asid Luc Bondar, who heads the airline’s loyalty program, to show appreciation for the healthcare workers who stepped up to protect our communities during the pandemic.”

In addition to the contest for healthcare workers, the airline is holding customer giveaways and other promotions to celebration the milestone.
