Hilton Worldwide announced a new elite benefit for diamond and gold members of its Hilton Honors guest-loyalty program.

The hotelier will offer such guests a food and beverage credit during their stays in lieu of the complimentary breakfast it traditionally offers.  The chain did not yet specify the amount of the credit, however, although it will start in July and be in effect through the remainder of 2021.

The new option comes as many hotels still don’t offer a complete breakfast amidst the coronavirus pandemic-induced downturn in travel.

Hilton says that the new offer is intended to be flexible.

“You asked for flexibility, and we’ve got it,” the company said in an e-mail to members, adding that the new program allows diamond and gold elite guests to enjoy breakfast or “skip it in favor of a refreshing beverage and afternoon snack.”

The credit, which can be used at any time during the day, will be available at the same hotels where a complimentary breakfast was available to elites.  The list includes Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, LXR Hotels & Resorts, Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Canopy by Hilton hotels, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Curio Collection by Hilton hotels, Tapestry Collection by Hilton hotels, DoubleTree by Hilton hotels, and Motto by Hilton hotels, as well as Hilton Garden Inn properties in the United States.
