T-Mobile Restores Service After 13+ Hour Network Outage

T-Mobile, which had experienced a nationwide outage that resulted in issues in placing and receiving calls as well as when using data services, said it had fully restored service to its network.

“Our network is now fully operational, with all voice and texting services restored,“ the company said in a statement on its website. “Thanks for your patience as we worked through fixing the issue.”

The outage began shortly after noon EDT Monday and the company said that service had been restored at 1 a.m. Tuesday.

During the course of the day, callers to T-Mobile’s support line were greeted with a message saying that the company was unable to take calls due to the outage.

Customers were anything but patient, however.  “Fix it!” one customer, George, demanded on Twitter adding that the company had promised that the merger with Sprint would make the T-Mobile network better.

One customer suggested a reboot: “Have you tried turning it on and off?” asked Sohail on Twitter.

The company said that the cause of the outage was “an IP traffic related issue“ that “created significant capacity issues in the network core throughout the day.”
