T-Mobile customers across the country are reporting issues placing and receiving calls as well as when using data services.

The self-proclaimed “Uncarrier” said it began to experience an unspecific network outage that is impacting hundreds of thousands of customers starting in the early afternoon.

“Our engineers are working to resolve the widespread voice and text issue,” the company said on its website.  It went on to recommend that customers use third-party messaging systems that use data, such as FaceTime or WhatsApp, and that would work over Wi-Fi networks.

The service-tracking website Down Detective reported it had received over 100,000 outage reports for T-Mobile from across the United States by Monday afternoon.  The problem impacted multiple individuals at Frequent Business Traveler and its parent company, Accura Media Group, which are both T-Mobile customers.

The company’s chief technology officer, Neville Ray, said in a tweet that the mobile operator’s engineers “are working to resolve a voice and data issue that has been affecting customers around the country,” while apologizing for the inconvenience.  He later added that the outages were due to a “widespread routing issue affecting voice & text.”

Later in the day, Ray said that  in a Tweet that “data services are now available & some calls are completing.”
