The new Arrivals and Departures Hall at LaGuardia Airport’s Terminal B – also known as the Central Terminal – is ready for boarding.

Starting Saturday, passengers flying on Air Canada, American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and United Airlines will relocate to brand-new check-in counters, kiosks, and baggage claim areas from the new hall, which connects to the new Eastern Concourse that opened to air passengers on December 1, 2018.

The four-story light-filled Arrivals and Departures Hall will also showcases four permanent public art installations curated by the Public Art Fund created by two artists from Europe and two from the United States.

“”The opening of the new Arrivals and Departures Hall at Terminal B is the biggest milestone to date in the transformation of LaGuardia Airport into a world-class transportation hub that is worthy of New York State,” said Governor Andrew Cuomo, who celebrated the upcoming opening by holding his morning coronavirus press briefing on Wednesday from the new terminal.

The terminal is chock full of innovations including an artificial intelligence-based, robotic assisted system that diverts high-risk checked baggage for further inspection and new passenger-friendly body scanners in which one doesn’t have to raise one’s arms for it to work.

In addition to 17 new dining establishments – ranging from the Brooklyn Diner, Eli’s Essentials by Eli Zabar, Junior’s Cheesecake, and Tony & Benny’s Authentic Brooklyn Pizza – will offer all travelers a taste of New York.
