United Airlines to Extend Current Premier Elite Status into 2022
United Airlines said Sunday it plans to extend the current elite status of members of its MileagePlus frequent-flyer program through 2022, given the severe decline in travel amidst the current coronavirus pandemic.
The move comes hours after Delta Air Lines announced a similar plan.
This means that a MileagePlus member’s current Premier elite status will be valid through the end of January 2022.
In addition, the airline said it will lower elite qualifying thresholds by lowering the number of Premier Qualifying Points required in 2020 for status in 2021.
In addition, the Chicago-based airline will extend customer subscriptions for in-flight Wi-Fi, United Club memberships, annual checked bags fees, and annualized Economy Plus upgrades by six months.
