The union that represents flight attendants at the world’s largest airline said that approximately 100 of its members have contracted the novel coronavirus.

The news was announced in a memorandum to the members of the Association of Professional Flight Attendants, which represents over 27,000 cabin crew at American Airlines, which was provided to FBT.

The airline, the union said, has “agreed to start providing face masks for frontline team members,” adding that the masks will be distributed this week.

Paul Frishkorn, a Philadelphia-based flight attendant and union representative at the airline, died at the end of March from the virus.
