Via Rail, Canada’s national intercity passenger train operator, announced the resumption of full train service between Montreal and Ottawa.

The railroad said that service between the two cities will resume Saturday on a weekend schedule and Monday on a weekday schedule.

The railroad said it had already restored service linking Toronto to London-Windsor, Sarnia, and Niagara Falls.

Service had been suspended earlier in the month as the result of blockades on Canadian National Rail tracks that were erected by demonstrators protesting TransCanada’s proposed Coastal GasLink fracking pipeline.
