British Airways to Launch 787-10 Dreamliner with Non-Stop Service from London to Atlanta

British Airways announced that the first route for its new Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner aircraft will be London-Atlanta.

The Dreamliner service will commence next February; the airline expects to take delivery of its first 787-10 Dreamliners in January.

“The delivery of our first 787-10 aircraft marks another significant milestone in our £6.5bn customer investment plan,” said BA CEO Alex Cruz.

The high-tech aircraft will feature a four-class cabin.  The airline will equip the plane with its newest first-class seats that are also currently found in the airline’s 787-9 Dreamliners as well as the recently-unveiled business-class Club Suite, in a 48-seat forward-facing configuration.

In addition, the World Traveller Plus premium-economy cabin will feature 35 seats and there will be 165 World Traveller seats in coach.

The Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner is the second member of the Dreamliner family to be produced. Similar to the 787-8, and 787-9 the lengthened variant of the high-tech jet uses 20% less fuel and produces 20% fewer emissions than similar-sized airplanes.

Compared to the original, the 787-10 is 18’ (5.5 m) longer, has greater capacity, and has a range of 7,400 miles (11,909 kilometers), while the 787-9 has the great range in the Dreamliner family, namely 8,785 miles (14,138 kilometers). The 787-8 can seat a maximum of 242 passengers in a typical two-class configuration, while the 787-9 and 787-10 can seat 290 and 330 passengers, respectively.

British Airways currently has 12 787-8 and 16 787-9 Dreamliners in its fleet.
