United Airlines ‘Her Art’ California Edition Boeing 757 Takes Flight
A United Airlines Boeing 757 with a California-themed livery on its fuselage and tail took to the skies Sunday in the Golden State.
The airline has two hubs in the state, one in San Francisco and one in Los Angeles.
The artwork includes the Golden Gate Bridge, sunglasses, and palm trees. It also includes a globe that is intended to signal the airline’s worldwide connectivity.
The artwork was designed by a local artist, Tsungwei Moo, as part of the airline’s Her Art Here contest for female artists.
A Boeing 757 is approximately 3,666 times bigger than a standard 18” x 24” canvas. Painting the jetliner took 17 days, ten colors, over 250 gallons of paint, and approximately 4,100 manhours.
