Hyatt Hotels announced the opening of the Park Hyatt Shenzhen in the city’s Futian business district.

The 195-key hotel sits atop a 48-story skyscraper designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates of New York.

Guest rooms, designed by Yabu Pushelberg, are on floors 36 to 44, and were designed, the hotel said, to make guests feel as if they were “floating on a cloud.” The décor features shades of grey, taupe, and ochre, with Chinese artwork and floor-to-ceiling windows that emphasize the view. The marble bathrooms offer twin vanities, a soaking top, and a rain shower. The hotel will offer guests toiletries created especially for the property by Le Labo.

Amenities include an xx-foot (25-meter) lap pool with wraparound floor-to-ceiling windows, a fitness center, a spa,

Restaurants in the hotel include the Glasshouse which offers European cuisine prepared with unique cuts of meat, sustainable seafood, and organic vegetables, the Garden Pavilion which serves Cantonese cuisine, and the Pool Terrace which offers Asian and Western “comfort food,” as well as the Living Room serving drinks in a living-room like setting and the Attic, which features a speakeasy-like environment with live music and views of the city.

Hyatt also plans to open an Andaz hotel in Shenzhen next year.

A major city in the Guangdong province, Shenzhen is part of the Pearl River Delta megalopolis, bordering Hong Kong to the south. Over the past two decades, it’s been one of the world’s fastest-growing cities.
