While the original K900 was posh, the second generation is clearly upscale and options are limited to the VIP Package, which adds ventilated and 12- or 14-way adjustable rear seats, a 12.3” LCD TFT instrument cluster, a rear wireless phone charger, tri-zone climate control, and a front passenger chauffer seat switch that allows the rear13 passenger to move the front passenger seat forward to allow for maximum rear leg room and comfort.  (Kids, don’t try this at home.)

The Snow White Metallic K900 arrived at our offices on a bright and sunny day that emphasized the pearl-like quality of the paint.

Open the door and the soft Sienne Brown Nappa leather welcomes you along with soft LED lighting. It’s a very plush experience. The sheer amount of room each passenger gets adds to the feeling. This is as much a passenger’s car as a driver’s car.

The look is polished and uncluttered.  And it impresses.

Once underway, it’s clear that the K900 emphasizes passenger comfort over sportiness although it still handled the winding roads in the New York City suburbs with aplomb.

Overall, we deemed ride quality and handling to be greatly improved over the original K900, although competitors Audi, BMW, Lexus, and Mercedes, offer far better performance, handling, fuel economy, and refinement. Still, some buyers will be finely cosseted in the K900, comfortable in the knowledge that they spent their dollars wisely and purchased a vehicle with a list of standard equipment and interior room unmatched by any other similarly priced luxury sedan.

We largely bypassed the Kia infotainment and navigation systems and used Apple CarPlay, which was quite well integrated with the vehicle.  Overall, in our week with the K900 we were impressed with the great strides that the vehicle has taken.

Many luxury car buyers view a luxury vehicle as something that surrounds you in opulence while telling the world you’ve made it.  But for those who want similar surroundings in a vehicle without calling attention to oneself, the Kia K900 Luxury V6 may very well be the perfect automobile.
