United to Relocate to New Concourse at LaGuardia on June 2
United Airlines announced a timeline for its move to the newly built Eastern Concourse in the new Central Terminal Building at LaGuardia Airport.
The move will take place on June 2, 2019.
The structure, also known as Terminal B, first opened on December 1st, 2018, when Air Canada, American Airlines, and Southwest Airlines moved in. It features 13 shops and restaurants including an FAO Schwarz.
The airline will open a new United Club on the upper level of the concourse, from which sweeping views of the gates and tarmac operations are available.
The new terminal is part of the $8 billion overhaul of the much-maligned airport. Passengers check in at kiosks and check-in counters in the old terminal building and only enter the new building after clearing security.
The new concourse features soaring 55’ (18-meter) ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows that bring natural light into the terminal, allowing for an indoor park with benches and live fig trees. A children’s play area allows young travelers to design their own airplanes and watch their design take off from a virtual LaGuardia runway on a giant display.
Charging stations are provided throughout the gate area and the entire terminal offers passengers complimentary fast and unlimited Wi-Fi.
