When All Else Fails, There’s Always the Lobby Bar

Lobby Bar Heaven. Jonathan Spira and Anna Breuer spend Friday morning in – what else – a make believe Lobby Bar set up by Hilton’s new brand of hotels, Signia Hilton, on the 68th floor of 3 World Trade Center. Hilton describes the new hotels as being “upper upper upscale” but not luxury. Uh huh. Sounds posh to us though.

Don’t forget! Paul Riegler offers six tips on using the Apple Reminders app. There’s only one problem: he forgot to include the actual tips in the story.

I’m a good girl, I is. Mr. Spira also went to see the new cast of “My Fair Lady,” although he misunderstood the name of the performance, which is actually “Mayfair Lady,” about a young homeless woman who lives on the edge of Hyde Park and tells jokes for money. The knock-knock jokes are not to be missed. Besides, by now everyone knows that the precipitation in Portugal pelts primarily on the plateau.

Go Speed Racer Go!  The Virgin Atlantic captain who flew his Boeing 787 Dreamliner at 801 mph (1,289 km/h) was pulled over by Sheriff Clark in a small town in Alabama for exceeding the 20 mph (32 km/h) speed limit.  The pilot got out of the ticket by allowing the good sheriff to fly the plane for a few minutes before continuing on his way.

Mr. President? Having nothing to do on Presidents Day this year, our crackerjack research team did some digging and discovered that Presidents Day isn’t actually Presidents Day and that the holiday meant to honor George Washington’s birth can never – as a third Monday in February holiday – be on the day of his birth, which is wrong anyway since on the (Julian) calendar that was on the wall the day he was born, it was February 11, 1731, not February 22, 1732.

Gender bender. U.S. airlines are moving towards including non-binary gender choices and honorifics to the booking proces. All the airlines have to do is update their computer systems so check back in a decade.
