Southwest Reports Increase in Traffic and Capacity, Slight Drop in Load Factor, for November

IMG_8485 2Southwest Airlines announced operational results for November 2018.

The carrier reported an increase in capacity and traffic, while its load factor was down. In addition, it carried 11.6 million passengers in November, a 2.2% increase over the same period in the prior year.

The airline’s total system traffic was 11.3 billion RPMs, or revenue passenger miles, a year-over-year increase of 4.9% from 10.8 billion RPMs in November 2017. The company reported a total system capacity of 13.4 billion ASMs, or available seat miles, up 6.5% from 12.6 billion the previous November.

Meanwhile, Southwest’s load factor for the month dropped by 1.3 percentage point to 84.5% from 85.8%.

The airline reported it carried 11.6 million passengers in the month, an increase of 3.2% over 11.2 million in November 2017.
