Southwest Sees Increase in Traffic and Capacity for October

DSC_0819Southwest Airlines announced operational results for October 2018.

The carrier reported an increase in capacity and traffic, while its load factor was down.

The airline’s total system traffic was 11.3 billion RPMs, or revenue passenger miles, a year-over-year increase of 6% from 10.7 billion RPMs in October 2017. The company reported a total system capacity of 13.4 billion ASMs, or available seat miles, up 7.7% from 12.4 billion the previous October.

Meanwhile, Southwest’s load factor for the month dropped by 1.3 percentage point to 84.5% from 85.8%.

The airline reported it carried 11.6 million passengers in the month, an increase of 3.2% over 11.2 million in October 2017.
