Delta Reports Record Month for August

DSC_5059 (2)Delta Air Lines announced operational results for August 2018. The airline carried a record 18.3 million passengers in the month, with the greatest increase coming from domestic travel.

The Atlanta-based carrier’s total system traffic for the month was 22.4 billion revenue passenger miles, or RPMs, a year-over-year increase of 3.6%, up from 21.62 billion in August 2017. Domestic traffic rose 5.5%, while international traffic rose 0.8%.

Total system-wide capacity for the month also increased, up 3.5% to 25.47 billion available seat miles, or ASMs, from 24.59 billion last year. The airline’s domestic capacity was up 5%, while international capacity inched up by 1.3%.

The airline reported a system-wide load factor of 88%, a year-over-year increase of 0.1 percentage points from 87.9% last year.
