United Airlines Reports Jump in Traffic, Capacity, and Load Factor for July
United Airlines announced operational results for July 2018. The carrier’s consolidated traffic and capacity were up year-over-year, as was its load factor.
Total traffic for the Chicago-based airline during the month of July was 23 billion RPMs, or revenue passenger miles, an increase of 6.9% from 21.51 billion RPMs in July 2017. The carrier’s total capacity for the month was up 4% to 25.76 billion ASMs, or available seat miles, from 24.77 billion ASMs the previous July.
Meanwhile, United’s consolidated load factor increased, up 2.4 percentage points to 89.3% from 86.9% in July 2017.
United reported an increase of 4.1% in international traffic for the period, while its international capacity rose by 1.5%. The airline saw a 9.1% increase in domestic traffic, with a 6% rise in domestic capacity.
Additionally, the company said it had achieved several records for the month of July including carrying 15.4 million passengers and filling over 90% of its mainline seats.
