Southwest Reports ‘Record Earnings Per Share’ for Second Quarter
Southwest Airlines announced financial results for the second quarter of 2018.
The airline reported net income of $733 million, while total revenue for the quarter was up 0.2% to $5.7 billion.
“Despite higher fuel prices and the expected effects from the Flight 1380 accident, we delivered solid financial results, including record earnings per share for second quarter 2018,” said Gary C. Kelly, chairman of the board.
The carrier said that it expects capacity growth for 2018 to remain in the low four percent range, one point lower than its original capacity growth plan for the year.
