United Airlines to Offer Final Goodbye to the Queen of the Skies Including Dinner Under its Last 747

Continuing the commemoration of the retirement of its Boeing 747 fleet, United Airlines announced the opportunity to bid on a weekend that includes dinner underneath the 747 that operated the airline’s final 747 revenue flight last year.

The airline is auctioning five packages for the weekend starting June 1 that include travel to Tupelo, Mississippi, the location of Universal Asset Management Aircraft Disassembly Center, home to multiple retired United 747s. The package includes a tour of the facility, a champagne toast in the first-class cabin of the last Queen of the Skies to operate, followed by the dinner.

“We’re thrilled to be able to offer this uniquely United chance of a lifetime to aviation and engineering enthusiasts,” said Luc Bondar, vice president of loyalty at the airline.

The package includes round-trip airfare for two on United to Memphis, Tennessee; two nights at a Marriott hotel in Memphis; transportation to and from Tupelo; the tour; the Champagne toast; and the dinner. Bids will be accepted through May 24.

The airline is offering a total of five packages. Two are available to all MileagePlus members, two are available only to MileagePlus Premier members, and one is reserved for MileagePlus cardmembers. Each package is for two people.

United’s final 747 revenue flight took place on November 7, 2017 when the airline recreated its first-ever 747 flight from 1970, from San Francisco to Honolulu.
