Cathay Pacific to Install High-Speed Wi-Fi from Gogo on Entire Fleet
Cathay Pacific announced it is partnering with Gogo to deploy high-speed Wi-Fi on all of its aircraft.
The carrier plans to install the in-flight Wi-Fi provider’s 2Ku technology on its fleet of Airbus A330 and Boeing 777 aircraft across both the Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon fleets.
Cathay said that it will begin outfitting its aircraft with the service in the middle of next year.
Gogo’s 2Ku system offers speeds of a minimum of 70 Mbps to the aircraft, seven times faster than Gogo’s fastest air-to-ground network. It uses two Ku-band connections to send and receive data between the plane and an orbiting satellite.
