InterContinental Hotels Group announced that Kimpton Karma Rewards will become part of the IHG Rewards Club in early 2018.

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, which was founded in 1981, was acquired by IHG in 2015.

Kimpton Karma members will be automatically enrolled in IHG Rewards Club when the two guest loyalty programs merge. The change will allow Kimpton Karma members to earn points at over 5,200 IHG properties while giving IHG members the opportunity to do the same at Kimpton’s 60 hotels.

“The special magic of Kimpton Karma will continue to live on,” IHG said in a statement, promising that Kimpton-specific offers such as events and perks will continue.

The change also addresses some areas where Kimpton Karma members will see specific improvements, such as no blackout dates and the addition of online redemption.
