Japan Airlines announced that it placed an order for four Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners.

The order is valued at over $900 million at current list prices.

JAL said that the order is part of the airline’s plans to expand its network and fleet ahead of the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner is a member of the Boeing 787 family, which also includes the 787-9 and the 787-10. The 787-8 has a range of 7,650 to 8,200 nautical miles (14,170 to 15,190 km), and can seat up to 210 passengers.

JAL currently operates the world’s second largest Dreamliner fleet, with 34 787 aircraft, and will receive its 35th Dreamliner later this week. The airline was the first carrier in the world to take delivery of a 787 with GEnx engines, as well as the second airline to operate the Dreamliner, starting in 2012.
