Dyson, a company known for its innovative vacuum cleaners and fans, said Tuesday it is working on an electric vehicle to be launched by 2020.

The news was announced by the company in a tweet.

“James Dyson just announced to @Dyson employees that we’ve begun work on a battery electric vehicle, due to launch in 2020.”

Dyson told the Reuters news service that he was investing £2 billion ($2.68 billion) and already had a team of 400 engineers in place working on the project.

“Battery technology is very important to Dyson, electric motors are very important to Dyson, environmental control is very important to us,” Dyson said.

The car itself hasn’t been designed yet, however, but the company has hired executives from other automakers including Aston Martin in recent years.
