Delta to Launch New York-Rio de Janeiro Service Later This Year
Delta Air Lines announced that it plans to offer new service between New York City and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on December 21. The carrier will operate the non-stop route daily.
Flights are scheduled to depart New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport at 9:24 p.m. and arrive at Rio de Janeiro–Antonio Carlos Jobim, International Airport (popularly known by its original name, Galeão International Airport) at 10:30 a.m. Flights will depart Rio at 10:15 p.m. and arrive in New York at 5:36 a.m. the following morning.
Delta will operate the route using Boeing 767-300 aircraft, configured with 35 lie-flat seats in Delta One business class, 32 seats in Delta Comfort+, the airline’s premium economy lite section, and 143 seats in economy. Delta One business-class seats are 21” wide and have a pitch of 77” to 81”.
The route is subject to U.S. Department of Transportation approval.
