Hilton Hotels and Resorts announced the opening of the Hilton Brooklyn New York. The property is the first Hilton hotel to open in the New York City borough.

The 196-room hotel is part of a 19-story mixed use development that also includes condominiums, commercial, and retail space. The hotel was designed to pay tribute to the Schermerhorn rope factory, which occupied the location in the 19th century, with features such as carpeting with patterned rope imagery, and murals of vintage maps of the neighborhood.

Guests can dine at the property’s Black Walnut restaurant, which combines elements of Southern American cooking with Asian cuisine.

The hotel provides 2,300 square feet (213 square meters) of meeting and event space, as well as a business center. A 24-hour fitness center is located on the premises.

The hotel is situated in the borough’s Boerum Hill neighborhood, close to popular attractions such as Barclays Center, the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
