Southwest Sees Increase in Traffic, Slight Drop in Load Factor in October

DSC_0016Southwest Airlines announced operational results for October 2016.

The carrier’s total system traffic was 10.478 billion RPMs, or revenue passenger miles, a year-over-year increase of 5.2% from 9.964 billion RPMs in October 2015.

The airline reported a total system capacity of 12.227 billion ASMs, or available seat miles, up 5.4% from 11.597 billion the previous October.

Meanwhile, Southwest had a load factor of 85.7% for the month, which was a 0.2 percentage point decrease from 85.9% the preceding October.

Southwest also forecast a drop of 4% to 5% in RASM for the fourth quarter of this year.
