British Airways to Launch London Gatwick-Oakland Service
British Airways announced that it plans to launch a new route linking London Gatwick and Oakland, California on March 28 next year. The carrier will operate the route four days a week, using Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.
Flights will depart London Gatwick at 10:20 a.m. on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, as well as at 11:25 a.m. on Tuesdays, and will arrive at Oakland International Airport at 1:15 p.m. and 2:20 p.m., respectively. From Oakland, flights are scheduled to depart at 2:45 p.m. on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and at 3:50 p.m. on Tuesdays, arriving back in London at 9:25 a.m. the next day, and 10:30 a.m. the next morning.
The carrier’s Boeing 777-200ER that will be used on the route are equipped with 40 lie-flat seats in Club World, the airline’s business class section, 24 seats in World Traveller Plus, the carrier’s premium economy section, and 219 seats in economy. Business-class seats are 20” wide and have a bed length of 72”.
The Oakland service will the carrier’s first route from London Gatwick to California, and its fifth service from the English capital to the state.
