DSC_0819Pilots at Southwest Airlines, the nation’s number three carrier, picketed Wednesday at Dallas Love Field, the carrier’s home airport, to call attention to the lack of a new contract.

The pilots have been negotiating a new contract with the airline for four years. The move was intended to show their displeasure in not yet having a new contract after several years of negotiations with the company.

The line of pilots “stretched outside from ticketing to baggage claim” according to a statement by the Southwest Airlines Pilots’ Association.

“Four years, particularly during a time of record profits, is far too long for a company known for its ‘LUV’ to not provide a worthy contract offer to its operational front line leaders – the pilots,” the union said.

Union members first picketed for a new contract in January of this year.
