Starwood Hotels and Resorts announced the reopening of the Pine Cliffs Hotel, a Luxury Collection Resort, Algarve in Albufeira on the south coast of Portugal, following a $57 million, 18-month renovation.

All of the property’s 217 guestrooms and suites were refurbished, and each now displays traditional hand-painted tiles that were fired in kilns in Lisbon as headboards.

The lobby is decorated with grand panels showing the discoveries of Vasco de Gama and Ferdinand Magellan, as well as a map reproduction of the Mediterranean by medieval cartographer Giorgio Sideri. Terracotta floors abound throughout the property.

A new 10,000-square-foot (929-square-meter) spa was added in the renovations.

The Pine Cliffs Hotel, a Luxury Collection Resort, Algarve hosts 11 restaurants, a nine-hole golf course, gardens, shops and boutiques, and over 23,000 square feet (2,136 square meters) of meeting and event space.
