JetBlue to Speed Up Security Checkpoints by Paying for TSA PreCheck for Select Fliers

JetBlue Airways has a plan to speed up the wait time at security checkpoints at the nation’s airports.

Starting immediately, the New York-based airline said it will pay the cost of TSA PreCheck membership for its top flyers, namely those who have achieved Mosaic status in its TrueBlue frequent flyer program. By moving these flyers through the checkpoint at a faster pace, the move should reduce the overall wait time for all travelers.

Passengers at a PreCheck security checkpoint don’t have to remove certain items of clothing, such as shoes, belts, and light outerwear, and can leave laptops and liquids in their carry-on luggage.

“Reducing time and the complexity of the security checkpoint makes a big difference for travelers,” said Scott Resnick, the airline’s director of loyalty marketing.

TrueBlue Mosaic-level members who do not already list a known traveler number in their JetBlue profiles will receive an e-mail from the airline with the special offer by July 1.
