JetBlue Takes Delivery of First U.S.-Made Airbus
Airbus announced the delivery of the first aircraft to be manufactured in its new plant in the United States.
The aircraft manufacturer presented the plane, an Airbus A321, to customer JetBlue Airways, at Airbus’s manufacturing plant in Mobile, Alabama. The aircraft made its first flight on March 21.
In addition to the plane delivered on Monday, Airbus currently has nine other A320 family aircraft in production at the plant. Airbus said that it plans to deliver four planes per month from the facility by the end of next year.
The airplane manufacturer said that initial deliveries will be A320 family aircraft with the current engine option, or ceo, with new engine option, or neo, planes scheduled for delivery in late 2017.
Airbus first announced its plans to build the Mobile, Alabama single-aisle assembly line in 2013. Construction was completed last September.
