The Charles Hotel to Complete Extensive Renovation This Spring

DSC_0475The Charles Hotel in Cambridge, Massachusetts announced a $20 million renovation to the property intended to save energy and make the property more green. The work is scheduled to be completed later this spring.

Each of the property’s 295 guestrooms will be outfitted with new furniture and what the hotel calls a “smart sleeper mattresses, as well as Carrara marble bathrooms. Additionally, bathtubs will be removed from bathrooms to minimize water use.

Another environmentally-friendly change will be the addition of energy saving light systems in guestrooms, while blackout curtains and 55” TVs will be installed. New healthy minibars with superfoods including yogurt covered blueberries, spicy toasted walnuts, dark chocolate covered acai berries, and kale chips will also be placed in the guestrooms.

In addition, the hotel’s art collection will debut new and recent additions. The collection currently includes work such as sketches by John F. Kennedy, Jr. an early American quilt collection, and pieces by artists such as Doug Hilson, Joel Babb, Stephen Sheffield, and Michael Mazur.
