JetBlue Sees Record Q4 Revenue

DSC_1564JetBlue Airways announced financial results for the fourth quarter of 2015.

The airline’s profit was $190 million, a substantial increase over its profit of $87 million in the fourth quarter of 2014. Full-year profit rose from $401 million to $677 million.

Revenue for the quarter was up 10.2% to $1.6 billion, a fourth quarter record for JetBlue, and was up 10.3% for the year to $6.42 billion. Passenger revenue per available seat mile, or Prasm, however, decreased by 1.9% year-over-year for the fourth quarter.

The airline’s passenger traffic in the fourth quarter was 10.6 billion revenue passenger miles, or RPMs, up 12.4% from 9.4 billion RPMs in the fourth quarter of 2014.  Capacity also rose, up 10.4% year-over-year, to 12.6 billion available seat miles, or ASMs, from 11.4 billion ASMs in 2014.

Meanwhile, passenger load factor in the fourth quarter increased by 1.5 percentage points, up to 83.6% from 82.1% in the same period during the previous year.
