American Airlines announced it will be adding over 20 new daily flights out of Los Angeles International Airport this year. In addition, the carrier said it is building two additional gates at the airport to accommodate the flights.

American will offer five daily flights to Seattle, as well as thrice-daily service to Portland, Oregon. The carrier will also operate twice daily service to Minneapolis, and daily service to New Orleans, Kansas City, Omaha, and Hartford, Connecticut.

The flights are set to begin June 2.

Additionally, American will offer daily seasonal flights to Anchorage and seasonal weekend flights to Durango Colorado, as well as flights on its summer schedule to Montrose and Vail, Colorado and Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

American says it will be hiring 200 additional employees this year to support the new routes and gates at LAX.

The carrier will also be launching previously announced routes from LAX to Tokyo Haneda next month, as well to Auckland, New Zealand in June.
