American Sees Record Traffic for October
American Airlines Group announced operational results for October 2015.
Consolidated system traffic for the airline was 18.9 billion revenue passenger miles, or RPMs, up 5.8% from 17.9 billion in the same period last year. Consolidated capacity was 22.2 billion available seat miles, or ASMs, a 2.1% increase from 21.8 billion the previous October.
The carrier’s consolidated load factor was 85.2%, up 3 percentage points from 82.2% in October 2014.
Traffic, capacity, and load factor were all the highest the airline has ever reported for the month of October.
The carrier said it expects consolidated passenger revenue per available seat mile, or Prasm, for the fourth quarter of this year to be down by approximately 5% to 7% year-over-year.
The Fort Worth-based company operated as both American Airlines and US Airways until mid October, and was formed by the merger of AMR Corp. and US Airways Group in December 2013.
The company only released consolidated results and did not break down reporting between American Airlines and US Airways. October 2015 is the 22nd full month following the merger in which the two airlines operated under one corporate umbrella. US Airways was officially shuttered on October 17, 2015.
