United to Link San Francisco with Auckland, New Zealand

DSC_0825United Airlines announced that it will launch new flights between San Francisco and Auckland, New Zealand on July 1, 2016. The carrier will operate the service three times a week through October 28, at which point it will increase to daily service.

Flights will depart San Francisco International Airport 10:45 p.m. and arrive at Auckland Airport at 6:55 a.m. two days later. From Auckland, flights are scheduled to depart at 1:20 p.m. and arrive in San Francisco at 6:45 a.m. the same day.

United will operate the flights in partnership with Air New Zealand, using Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft for the three weekly flights. The planes are equipped with 36 lie-flat seats in business class, 70 seats in economy plus, and 113 seats in economy. Business-class seats are 22” wide, and have a bed length of 78”.

Once the airline begins daily flights, it will operate the service using 787-9s, equipped with 48 lie-flat seats in business class, 88 seats in economy plus, and 116 seats in economy. Business-class seats are 22” wide, and have a bed length of 78”.

The flights will be in addition to the carrier’s new service from San Francisco to Tel Aviv, Israel, which were announced last week, and are scheduled to begin on March 30 of next year.
