Alaska Airlines to Link Los Angeles with Monterey, Gunnison/Crested Butte

Alaska Airlines announced that it will launch two new routes from Los Angeles later this year.  The carrier will begin daily service to Monterey, California on November 5, as well as seasonal service between Los Angeles and Gunnison/Crested Butte, Colorado, a popular winter skiing destination, on December 16.

Flights between Los Angeles and Monterey will depart Los Angeles at 7:40 p.m. and arrive in Monterey at 9:05 p.m.  From Monterey, flights will depart at 6:00 a.m. and arrive in Los Angeles at 7:18 a.m.

In celebration of the new route, Alaska is offering members of its Mileage Plan loyalty program double the miles for flights between the two cites on flights between November 5 and December 5, 2015.

Alaska’s seasonal service between Los Angeles and Gunnison/Crested Butte will operate twice a week, between December 16, 2015 and March 26, 2016, with slight time changes in early January 2016.

Between December 16, 2015 and January 2, 2016, flights will depart Los Angeles at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesdays and at 1:15 p.m. on Saturdays, arriving in Gunnison/Crested Butte at 12:55 p.m. and 4:40 p.m., respectively.  Also between those dates, flights from Gunnison/Crested Butte will depart at 1:35 p.m. on Wednesdays and 5:20 p.m. on Saturdays, and will arrive in Los Angeles at 3:10 p.m. and at 6:55 p.m.

Starting January 6, 2016, and continuing through March 26, Alaska will switch its Wednesdays flights to its Saturday timetable, with Los Angeles-Gunnison/Crested Butte flights departing at 1:15 p.m. and arriving at 4:40 p.m. on both Wednesdays and Saturdays, and Gunnison/Crested Butte-Los Angeles flights departing at 5:20 p.m. with arrival at 6:55 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The new flights will all be operated by Horizon Air, using Bombardier Q400 aircraft equipped with 76 seats.
