Hertz to Become Exclusive United Airlines Car Rental Partner
United Airlines and Hertz announced Tuesday an expansion of their partnership.
Under the terms of the new agreement, Hertz and its Dollar and Thrifty brands will become United’s exclusive car rental partners and select United MileagePlus members as well as some United credit card holders will receive elite status from Hertz.
With rentals picked up starting November 1, MileagePlus members and United credit card holders booking a Hertz rental will earn between 500 to 1,250 miles per rental, depending on their elite status with Hertz. General members will receive 500 miles, MileagePlus primary Chase credit card holders will receive 750 miles, Premier Gold and Silver members will receive 1,000 miles, and Global Services, Premier 1K, and Premier Platinum members will earn 1,250 miles. All MileagePlus members will receive discounts on rentals booked through United.com.
MileagePlus members renting from Dollar and Thrifty will earn 50 miles per day for rentals of one to four days and 500 miles for rentals five days or longer.
Hertz will give MileagePlus Global Services, Premier 1K, and Premier Platinum members as well as MileagePlus Club and Presidential Plus Card members Hertz President’s Circle status in the Hertz Gold Plus Rewards program. Benefits include one-class upgrades and confirmed availability of standard-equipment economy through full-size, four-door vehicles in both the United States and Canada provided a reservation is made at least 48 hours in advance.
United Premier Gold and Silver members will receive Hertz Five Star status, which provides for a one-class upgrade, based on availability.
