Frankfurt Airport Reports Record Traffic in August

Fraport AG, the owner and operator of Frankfurt Airport, announced results for August 2014 along with a new all-time monthly passenger record.

The airport’s passenger traffic for the month increased 5.4% year-over-year to 6.1 million passengers, marking a new monthly record for the first time that the airport’s traffic has exceeded 6 million passengers in a single month.  August also saw the single busiest traffic day in the airport’s history, with 210,599 passengers served on August 17.

The number of aircraft movements in August rose to 42,684 takeoffs and landings, a year-over-year increase of 0.6% from the same month last year.

The airport also reported a year-over-year increase of 3.2% in cargo tonnage, with 179,555 metric tons of cargo passing through the airport in August.
