Concurrent with the delivery of its first Airbus A380 superjumbo, Etihad Airways unveiled a new livery design at the Airbus Finkenwerder facility in Hamburg, Germany on Thursday.

The carrier’s first Airbus A380 was outfitted with the new design that Etihad is calling “Facets of Abu Dhabi.”

The airline says that the new look uses a palette that reflects the various colors of the landscape of the United Arab Emirates.  The national emblem of the country is located on the fuselage of the aircraft next to the airline’s name, and the national flag is displayed near the cockpit in the front.

The carrier plans to roll out the new livery to its entire fleet over the next three years.

Etihad will use its first A380 to operate flights between Abu Dhabi and London Heathrow beginning December 27.
