With a little less than two months remaining of summer, there are plenty of trips ahead and lots of bags to be packed.

Here are six tips on how to pack more efficiently and effectively so you can carry less and enjoy your trip more.

1.) Don’t Check A Bag

Only taking carry-on bags helps you speed through the airport and get to your destination faster. It will also ensure that your bags reach your destination with you, given that the world’s airlines lose roughly 3,000 bags per hour, or 25 million per year.

2.) Pack Without Redundancy

I’m sometimes amazed at how many grey sweaters a person can bring on a trip. Give up on the belt-and-suspenders approach. No one needs four belts and six pairs of shoes for a three-day trip. Packing what you need also saves time when it comes to packing and unpacking, both at home and at the hotel.

3.) Choose Your Bag Wisely

All of us at Frequent Business Traveler use a 22” roll aboard. This typically meets the vast majority of airline size requirements, although it pays to double check with your airline to make sure. Some of the leading luggage companies that offer 22” bags include Rimowa, Tumi, and Samsonite.
