New Shangri-La Hotel Opens in London
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts announced the opening of a new Shangri-La brand hotel in London. The new property, called the Shangri-La Hotel, at the Shard, London, is located on the 34th to 52nd floors of the tallest building in western Europe, and is the first high-rise hotel in London.
The new hotel has 202 guestrooms and suites with an average size of more than 452 square feet (42 square meters), the largest rooms offered at any establishment in London. Each room features Chinese artwork, mood lighting, marble bathrooms, and a signature Shangri-La bed with body-contouring technology.
The property also hosts three dining establishments, including a restaurant serving traditional Asian cuisine, a patisserie and deli, and a champagne and cocktail bar that will open on May 19. Also located on the premises are a 24-hour fitness center and an infinity pool that is slated to open this summer.
The hotel also features three event venues on the 34th floor. The facilities are capable of accommodating up to 140 guests, and offer conferencing technology and catering services. The entire 34th floor of the hotel can also be reserved for a standing reception of up to 200 guests.
The Shangri-La Hotel, at The Shard, London, overlooks the Thames River and is located within walking distance of several popular London attractions, including the Houses of Parliament, the Tower of London, and St. Paul’s Cathedral.
The hotel is the third Shangri-La property to open in Europe.
