Boeing Receives First Order for BBJ Max Plane
Boeing announced the launch of the Boeing Business Jet Max 8 simultaneously with an order from an undisclosed customer. The aircraft is the newest model in the company’s BBJ line of large cabin, ultra-long-range aircraft.
The BBJ Max 8, which is modeled after the 737 Max 8, has a range of 6,325 nautical miles (11,713 kilometers), an increase of 800 nautical miles (1,482 kilometers) over the current BBJ2 model. The new BBJ Max 8 also has three times more cargo space, as well as a 19 foot (5.8 meter) increase in cabin length over the previous model.
The first BBJ Max 8 plane will be delivered in 2018 without interior furnishings, which will be installed later by a completion center of the customer’s choice.
Boeing has also developed the BBJ Max 9, which will have a range of 6,255 nautical miles (11,584 kilometers) and a larger cabin than the BBJ MAX 8. The company is currently studying plans to develop a BBJ Max 7 model.
