United Launches San Francisco-Taipei Flights, Increases Service on Houston-Tokyo Route
United Airlines announced it began new daily service between San Francisco and Taipei, Taiwan. In addition, the carrier added a second daily flight to its existing Houston-Tokyo service.
Flights between San Francisco and Taipei depart San Francisco International Airport at 1:50 p.m. and arrive at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport in Taipei at 6:30 p.m. the next day. From Taipei, flights depart at 11:10 a.m. and arrive in San Francisco at 7:30 a.m. the same day.
United’s additional Houston-Tokyo flights depart George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston at 9:00 a.m. and arrive at Tokyo Narita International Airport at 12:35 p.m. the next day. From Tokyo, flights depart at 6:55 p.m. and arrive in Houston at 4:55 p.m. the same day.
Both the new San Francisco-Taipei, as well as the additional Houston-Tokyo service, operate using Boeing 777-200 aircraft.
In addition, United plans to begin new thrice-weekly nonstop service between San Francisco and Chengdu, China on June 9, pending government approval. The carrier also has plans to launch new nonstop service between Los Angeles and Melbourne, Australia, also subject to government approval. If approved, the service will operate six times a week.
