Starwood announced it will open a new Aloft hotel in New Orleans in 2015.  The company plans to convert a historic building located at 225 Baronne Street in the city’s central business district into the Aloft New Orleans Downtown.

The property will have 188 loft-like rooms, each with advanced technology and a vibrant design. The hotel will also have an outdoor pool, a 24-hour fitness center, and 2,500 square feet (232 square meters) of meeting and event space.

The property will also offer Aloft’s signature W XYZ bar, where hotel guests can enjoy music and live events through the Live at Aloft Hotels program.  In addition, the hotel will be within walking distance of various bars, restaurants, jazz clubs, and shopping boutiques in the city’s French Quarter.

The planned hotel is the latest in Starwood’s efforts to reconvert old buildings into functioning hotels. The company has already converted such properties in Orlando, Tulsa, Miami, and Dallas into Aloft brand establishments. This year, it plans to convert two additional properties in Detroit and Tampa.
