The bed itself was extremely comfortable and I was tempted to sneak the goose-down comforter into my already quite full roll aboard.  I woke up each morning refreshed and ready for the challenges of the day, which included both meetings and some shopping.

The room itself was very quiet and conducive to relaxation. This was further enhanced by the bedroom having a separate door , which helped isolate it from any passers-by disturbances.

ROAD WARRIOR SUPPORT

A generously-sized writing desk was located at the far end of the room, creating a private work area.  The chair, an elegant period piece, was decidedly non-ergonomic and not the best solution for long work periods at the desk.

Wi-Fi support, for up to six devices, is fast and free but requires booking a published rate and creating an online profile on the hotel’s website.

The Mandarin Oriental Munich provides three meeting and event spaces, all with natural light and the latest technology infrastructure.  The rooms can accommodate between 15 and 80 attendees for meetings.  In addition, the roof terrace is available during the summer months for receptions and sit-down dinners – but the cold weather doesn’t mean cessation of rooftop entertainment.  In wintertime, the hotel erects a chalet that seats several dozen people for dinner.

Mark’s, the hotel’s restaurant, is available for special events as well.  It can seat 120 and host 200 guests for a reception.

A small business center on the main floor provides computers and printers for use by guests and resembles more a private office than a typical business center.

WELLNESS

In addition to the incredible rooftop pool with panoramic views of the, the hotel boasts a fully-equipped gym with steam room and sauna. In addition, guests can sign out a Mercedes-Benz bicycle at no charge and Munich is an extraordinarily bicycle friendly city (and I, as a former resident, can attest to that).

Since my last visit, the Mandarin Oriental has added a spa.  The Amour Fou Spa is a small but peaceful oasis that offers a variety of treatments including stress-relieving massages.  I had a most effective head, neck, and back massage there and left feeling like a different person.  The spa also offers a variety of beauty treatment including men’s haircuts.
