Qatar Airways is slated to become a full member of the oneworld alliance on Wednesday.  The airline’s membership goes into effect at midnight in Doha (5:00 p.m. EDT Tuesday).

The carrier’s first flights as a oneworld alliance member will take place tomorrow.  The airline will operate a flight from Dhaka, Bangladesh to Doha, set to depart at 12:15 a.m. Doha time, and one at 12:20 a.m. Doha time, from Doha to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Qatar Airways’ new home base will be Hamad International Airport in Doha.  The airline unveiled the first of its aircraft to be outfitted in oneworld alliance livery at the airport, a Boeing 777-300.

Members of Qatar Airways’ Privilege Club will be able to earn and redeem miles on all other oneworld member airline flights.  In addition, oneworld alliance airline frequent flyer program members will be able to earn and redeem miles on all Qatar airways-operated flights.

Qatar Airways is the only of the three major carriers in the Gulf region to join an airline alliance.
