The Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center hotel announced it would begin a $30 million renovation early next year.  Renovations to the guestrooms will begin in February and are expected to take about one year to complete, while renovations to the property’s meeting space will begin in the spring, and are scheduled to be completed by the fall.

The hotel’s rooms will be outfitted with neutral and grey colors with teal accents.  Adorning the walls will be photography of Detroit architectural landmarks.

The property’s meeting and event rooms will feature mauve, taupe, purple, and brown, the colors of a Michigan beach at sunset.  Renovations to the space will also include an extensive remodeling of the hotel’s ballroom and exhibit space.

The 70-floor Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center is one of the tallest hotels in the western hemisphere.  Renovations to the property will be done a few floors at a time, so as to allow the hotel to remain open throughout the project.
